ChanServ, on many IRC networks, is an IRC service which maintains channel registration and access information. If a channel is registered with ChanServ, its owners (and those they have designated) can use ChanServ to obtain control over the channel, gaining channel operator privileges. Most channel service bots also allow other sorts of channel management options, such as topic locks (in addition to +t), mode locks, and providing users automatically with operator status, half-operator status, voice, or other access, as designated by the channel owners. They may also provide some form of automated ban-list management.
There are several implementations of IRC services which have a ChanServ bot; some other services use other names, such as CS. The exact commands and features available depend on the service implementation and the network in question.
Whitchurch Lock is a lock and weir situated on the River Thames in England. The lock is located in the Oxfordshire village of Whitchurch-on-Thames but the weir crosses the river to the Berkshire village of Pangbourne. Both lock and weir are owned and managed by the Environment Agency.
The long serving lock keeper is Brian Butcher who has worked on the river for more than forty years starting as an apprentice engineer for Bert Bushnell’s hire fleet based in Maidenhead in the 1960s.
Whitchurch Lock is one of the few locks on the River Thames which has no public access other than by boat.
The reach passes along the Chiltern Hills, culminating in Goring Gap. On the Oxfordshire side are Hartslock beech woods, named after a lock that was removed in 1910. On the Berksire side is Child Beale Wildlife Park. The Thames Path crosses Whitchurch Bridge into Oxfordshire and continues through Whitchurch away from the river as it goes round Coombe Park, returning to the river at Hartslock. It continues on the Oxfordshire river bank to Goring.

A warded lock (also called a ward lock) is a type of lock that uses a set of obstructions, or wards, to prevent the lock from opening unless the correct key is inserted. The correct key has notches or slots corresponding to the obstructions in the lock, allowing it to rotate freely inside the lock. Warded locks are commonly used in inexpensive padlocks, cabinet locks, and other low-security applications, since they are among the most easily circumvented by lock picking. A well-designed skeleton key can successfully open a wide variety of warded locks.
The warded lock is one of the most ancient lock designs still in modern use. It is thought to have been developed in ancient Rome.
In the most basic warded lock, a set of obstructions, often consisting of concentric plates protruding outwards, blocks the rotation of a key not designed for that lock. Warded locks may have one simple ward, or many intricate wards with bends and complex protrusions; the principle remains the same. Unless the notches or slots in the key correspond to the wards in the lock, the key will strike an obstruction and will not turn.
A cylindrical post is typically located in the center of the lock. Its purpose is to provide a point of leverage for rotating the key, and to help correctly align the key with the wards. The key has a corresponding hole which fits over the post.
When the correct key is inserted, it will clear the wards and rotate about the center post. The key may then strike a lever, activating a latch or sliding bolt, or it may itself push against the latch or bolt. In a double action lever lock, the key may additionally push against a spring-loaded lever which holds the sliding bolt in place.

Bingley Five Rise Locks is a staircase lock on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Bingley (). As the name implies, a boat going up the lock is lifted in five stages.
In effect the 5-rise consists of five locks connected together with (as always with a staircase) no intermediate “pounds”: the lower gate of each chamber forms the upper gate of the chamber below. There are therefore five chambers, and six gates (the top and bottom gates and four intermediate gates). As the Leeds Liverpool canal is a wide canal, the chambers are 14 feet wide, and each “gate” consists of two half-gates, “hinged” from opposite sides of the canal. Each half gate is slightly more than 7 feet wide, so that the two halves close in a “V” shape (pointing “upstream”). Water pressure on the “uphill” side of the gate thus keeps it tightly closed until the water levels on either side are equal, when the gate can be opened and the boat moved to the next chamber (see canal locks for more information on how a lock is constructed and operated).
The 5-rise is the steepest flight of lock in the UK, with a gradient of about 1:5 (a rise of 59ft 2in over a distance of 320ft). The intermediate and bottom gates are the tallest in the country. Because of the complications of working a staircase lock, and because so many boaters (both first-time hirers and new owners) are inexperienced, a full-time lock keeper is employed, and the locks are padlocked “out of hours”. Barry Whitelock, the “locky”, after twenty years based here is now almost infamous on the local canals. Barry was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2006 New Year Honours List for “Services to Inland Waterways in the North”
It opened on March 21 1774 and was a major feat of engineering at the time. When the locks and therefore the canal from Gargrave to Leeds was opened in 1774 a crowd of 30,000 people turned out to celebrate it! The first boat to use the locks took just 28 minutes and the whole first trip is described here as it was in a newspaper of the time - the Leeds Intelligencer. The smaller Three Rise opened at the same time just a few hundred meters further down.
During 2000-2004, famous Leeds Chartered Surveyor, Gerwyn Bryan, lived in the famous cottage looking down on the locks, which appears in many pictures of the locks.
The “flight” (it is a moot point whether a staircase is strictly a “flight”, used strictly the term means a group of locks separated by intermediate pounds, so each lock has its own top and bottom gates) is a major tourist attraction in the area. Most boats that pass through attract a lot of attention especially at weekends where they may be a crowd of thirty people or more watching a boat go up or down!
The staircase underwent extensive restorative maintenance in 2004,and again in 2006 when the lock gates and paddles were replaced. As is expected with such a feat of engineering it requires a lot of maintenance and is often on British Waterway’s list of winter stoppages for maintenance.

Party buses offer seating capacities from 20 to 50 passengers and include more amenities and standard equipment than most other forms of ground transportation. These amenities may include upgraded electrical systems, fast idle controller, AM/FM stereo with CD player, power/heated remote control mirrors, power door locks and windows, upgraded seats and fabric, strip-poles, air actuated passenger entry door, video and audio systems, luggage partitions, back-up cameras, seat and fabric upgrades, smoke machines, laser lights, disco lights, strobe lights, on-board restroom, ADA equipment and a large array of floor plans to suit demanding transportation needs.
Party buses are primarily used for, although not limited to, weddings, proms and bachelor and bachelorette parties as well as round trips to casinos, nights on the town, personalized drop offs and pick ups at various bars and nightclubs, birthdays and city tours.
While some party buses are used for week long tours and events, most are used for day trips and events. Most party buses, however, operate as livery vehicles, providing upmarket competition to limousines and taxicabs.
A bahut is a portable coffer or chest, with a rounded lid covered in leather, garnished with nails, once used for the transport of clothes or other personal luggage, it was, in short, the original portmanteau. This ancient receptacle, of which mention is made as early as the 14th century — its traditional form is still preserved in many varieties of the travelling trunk — sometimes had its leather covering richly ornamented, and occasionally its interior was divided into compartments; but whatever the details of its construction it was always readily portable. Towards the end of the 17th century the name fell into disuse, and was replaced by coffer, which probably accounts for its misuse by the French romantic writers of the early 19th century. They applied it to almost any antique sideboard, cupboard or wardrobe, and its use became hopelessly confused.
A solenoid bolt is a type of electronic-mechanical locking mechanism. This type of lock is characterized by the use of a solenoid to throw the bolt. Sophisticated solenoid bolt locks may use microprocessors to perform voltage regulation, reduce power consumption, and/or provide access control. Depending on the strength of the solenoid, some models can provide a holding force on the order of 1000 kg. A solenoid bolt can be designed either to fail open (the lock opens on power loss) or to fail closed (the device is locked upon power loss); cf fail safe. Some models may be suitable for high-security sites.
Locks-and-keys is a solution to dangling pointers in computer programming languages.
The locks-and-keys approach represents pointers as ordered pairs (key, address) where the key is an integer value. Heap-dynamic variables are represented as the storage for the variable plus a cell for an integer. When a variable is allocated, a lock value is created and placed both into the variable’s cell and into the variable’s ordered pair. Every access to the pointer compares these two values, and access is allowed only if the values match.
When a variable is deallocated, the key of its ordered pair is modified to hold a value different from the variable’s cell. From then on, any attempt to dereference the pointer can be flagged as an error. Since copying a pointer also copies its cell value, changing the key of the ordered pair safely disables all copies of the pointer.
Brandy Pond is a small lake in Naples, Maine, United States, that is connected to Long Lake by the Chute River which at one time was regarded by The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s shortest river. Brandy Pond is connected to Sebago Lake by the Songo River. To get to Sebago Lake through the Songo River you must pass through the Songo locks, one of the last remaining hand operated locks in the country.
Brandy Pond is bounded by a commercial or downtown area called the “causeway” on Rt. 302. An area of homes on the southerly side called Scenic Drive and a golf course on the northern side as well as many private homes and public campgrounds and condominiums.
